Letting Go Of Your Eating Disorder:

Letting go of your eating disorder is one of the hardest processes of recovery. It takes months or even years to learn how to live again. You may feel like this eating disorder has become you and it’s hard letting the other half of you go.

Here are a few tips I’ve collected about letting go of your eating disorder-

  • Address those fears that are difficult to think or talk about, so you can maybe start to understand your eating disorder and why it happened.
  • Discipline yourself and motivate yourself; for example, make a meal plan with a family member or friend that can motivate you to get better.
  • Don’t get discouraged by having one bad day.
  • Every time a disordered thought comes in your head, write the thought down and write five-ten reasons why it’s not true.
  • Get your mind on other things like going to the mall with friends. Being occupied by other people can help keep the bad thoughts in the back of your head rather than in the front.
  • Face your fears and take risks. Recovery can be scary, but it ends with happiness.
